Academic Appointments:
Zhou Conghui is a full professor and Ph.D advisor of the School of Architecture, Southeast University as well as a National Certified Planner of China, visiting professor of University of Rome (Sapienza), Visiting Scholar of Columbia University, evaluation expert of professional degree of national landscape architecture graduate students of the Ministry of Education, review expert of the National Natural Science Foundation of China, Member of Jiangsu Provincial Forest Park Review Committee, Peer Reviewer for top-tier international urban studies journals including Landscape and Urban Planning, Cities, and Urban Forestry & Urban Greening.

Education:
Zhou Conghui got a Ph.D degree in Landscape Architecture from Tongji University. During the pursuit of the doctor’s degree, he studied at the Urban Design Program of Columbia University for a one-year’s Ph.D joint-training (2010-2011) and went to Department of Architecture at University of Rome (Sapienza) as a visiting scholar in 2012, 2016, and 2019.

Research Leadership:
Since he has worked in SEU from 2013, his work has been successively funded by the General Program and Young Scholars Program of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Science and Technology Program of the Ministry of Housing and Construction of China. His book “Principles and Methods of Pocket Park Planning and Design” was recommended to be published by Springer (2025). His research works were published in the authoritative journals like Cities, Sustainable Cities and Society, Urban Forestry & Urban Greening,Socio-Economic Planning Sciences, Journal of Environmental Management, and so on. He has been invited to give lectures at Columbia University, University of Rome (Sapienza), top-level universities in China as well as the famous research, planning and design institutions.

Recent Focus:
In recent years, he has dedicated to promoting the application of AI technology in planning and design practices. He has directed dozens of large-scale planning and design projects, covering urban green space system planning, urban ecological infrastructure planning, large-scale suburban wetland design, park, street and waterfront landscape design, and relied on several planning and design practice projects in the Yangtze River Delta and Yellow River Delta to create pilot samples for the integration and application of AI technology. These projects have won numerous awards, includingIFLA ASIA-PACLA AWARDS2023, Excellent Urban Planning and Design of China, China Landscape Architecture Society Excellent Planning and Design Award and Science and Technology Progress Award, Jiangsu Province Excellent Project Design (First Prize), and Zhou has been repeatedly invited to serve as an expert judge for important international design competitions.

Teaching:
In terms of teaching, he has taken charge of the international exchange program between the school of architecture and the University of Rome since 2018. He collaborates with SEU's artificial intelligence major internally and with the University of Rome externally to carry out cross disciplinary teaching cooperation.Students advised by him have won more than 10 awards in high-level design competitions at home and abroad. He also participated in international joint design work camp teaching at home and abroad, and was awarded the title of Advanced Educator for Graduate Students of Landscape Architecture of China.
