2025年5月26日，《直向护樟榕》展览将于色情导航 亚洲建筑档案中心与观众正式见面。本次展览由色情导航 亚洲建筑档案中心、色情导航 、家琨不建筑/玉林颂、直向建筑联合主办，将持续至9月26日。
展览将展出董功手绘原作、建筑模型和影像、项目相关人物访谈视频等，带观展者一同深入经历建筑实践背后的细节和付出，这也是《直向护樟榕》巡回展览继成都“玉林颂”空间、中央美术色情导航展出后的第三站。
展览开幕式与学术研讨会将于2025年6月11日举行。
The exhibition "Revival of the Ordinary Trees" will officially be open to the public at the Asian Architectural Archive Center, Southeast University on May 26, 2025. This exhibition is jointly organized by the Asian Architectural Archive Center, and the School of Architecture of Southeast University, Jiakun Non-Architects / Yulin Song, and Vector Architects. The exhibition is scheduled to remain open until September 26.
The exhibition will feature Dong Gong's original hand-drawn works, architectural models and videos, as well as interviews with people related to the projects. The presentation will guide visitors on an in-depth journey to explore the intricacies and nuances of everyday tasks underlying architectural practice.
This is the third stop of “Revival of the Ordinary Trees” touring exhibition after its opening show at the "Yulin Song" gallery in Chengdu and the second exhibit at the Central Academy of Fine Arts.
The opening ceremony and academic symposium of the exhibition will be held on June 11, 2025.

Vector Architects is renowned in the Chinese architectural community for its exceptional professional standards. Their works have also played a significant role in elevating public awareness of architecture.
However, people often fixate on the glamorous side of successful architects, overlooking the myriad challenges and hardships underlying their daily pursuits. It's as if the resulting achievements are just there: like ripe fruits falling, water finding its course, the trees lush and green, the clouds light and the wind gentle, as if everything is just natural.
Thus, this is why this exhibition came about. It stands to showcase Vector Architects’ idealism and unwavering team spirit - the countless years of exhaustive effort and relentless dedication.
It is for those trees.

In the bustling Arsenale of the 2025 Venice Biennale Architettura, the exhibition by Vector Architects commands attention. They are among the few who remain committed to the making of architecture with steadfast commitment – and to presenting it through architectural means. It was once taken for granted but has now become a rarity.
They work closely with site, material, and space. Through meticulous contemplation of trees, they explore the intricate relationship between architecture, nature, and the human. Trees act not only as tangible entities, but also speak in a metaphorical voice. Their ceaseless growth and constant transformation give rise to a tense yet harmonious coexistence between architecture and its milieu. In the dimension of time, harmony proves fleeting, while tension endures.
Vector Architects persists in the practice of architecture, working by a relatively traditional approach – through the interplay of sketches and models, and the resonance between building and design. This prolonged process has accumulated an extensive array of archival materials, enabling us to delve deep into the wellspring of quality.

董功：
在现实的建筑工程里，能够护住一棵普通的树，并非易事。它直接意味着花费、时间、难度等非常具体的“额外消耗”。而在我们眼中，这一切都值得。一棵树即便再普通，也是锚固在一个具体坐标点上独一无二的“精灵”。护住一棵树，就护住了它根系所及的泥土和地形，它向上延展的天空，穿过树冠的光和风，停留在树梢上的鸟和树下驻留的人。一棵树就是一个在垂直向度上的小小世界。
2018、19年前后，直向遇到了两片关于树的场地。一片位于深圳福田中心区，在建筑废渣填放而成的土坡上生长着的榕树林，另一片位于景德镇陶溪川老陶机厂，在一个堆料场上散布着的樟树群。两次设计的思路都是从护树开始，却是截然不同的两段故事。
Dong Gong：
In a real-world architectural project, it is not an easy task to preserve an ordinary tree on site. It means extra effort of cost, time and precision. As for us, it's always worth fighting for it. Each tree is a unique “spirit” anchored on a specific coordinate point. Preserving a tree equals preserving the soil and topography at its roots, the space projecting to the sky, the natural light and wind through the canopies, the birds staying on the treetops, and the people lingering underneath. Spatially, a tree is indeed a micro ecological system in the vertical dimension.
Around the year of 2018 and 2019, Vector Architects started working on two sites both occupied by trees. One is located in the central area of Futian District, Shenzhen, where a banyan forest growing on an earth mound filled with architectural waste residue. The other one is located in the old ceramic machinery factory in Taoxichuan, Jingdezhen, where a camphor grove scattered on a pileyard. The two designs originated from the ideas for protecting the trees, but turned out to be two completely different stories.
